Preliminary at the last next month, Nintendo will show off their new finances line of Wii games titles in Japan. Called the Minna no Osusume Selection, which roughly translates to “Everyone’s Recommendation Selection,” the line will focus on rereleasing quality third-party software at funds prices.

In order to qualify for this branding, a Wii game must have reached either bronze, silver, gold, or platinum status on the Nintendo Channel. In other words, gamers get to Vote which games can qualify for this line. Obey to Nintendo Wii, there are already 75 Wii games that qualify for this line, but they have sure to kick it off with the following titles:

• 428 (Sega, Platinum)
• Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Marvelous, Gold)
• Arc Rise Fantasia (Marvelous, Silver)
• We Ski & Snowboard (Namco Bandai, Silver)
• One Piece Unlimited Cruise Episode 1 (Namco Bandai, Silver)
• Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (Namco Bandai, Bronze)
• Dragon Ball Z Sparking! Meteor (Namco Bandai, Bronze)

Each of these games will cost $2,800 ($31) and will be available on February 25. There has been no word on whether or not the brand will introduce any more titles, or if Nintendo of America will start a similar line.

Nintendo Wii gaming console kind of blurs lines between casual gaming and hard core gaming. in the middle of rumors about the next Xbox console or PlayStation console, there is some update from Nintendo too. Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo’s president for America region, in an interview with Kotaku shed light on plans about the next Wii console that would go beyond HD.

Of all three gaming consoles, Nintendo Wii is the only one after Xbox 360 that is devoid of High Definition content support. Xbox 360 did have HD DVD support before Blu-ray won the HD battle. No wonder HD optimized game titles remain devoid from even ported to the Wii platform. Many analysts and gamers have been serious Nintendo to work on a more powerful and HD-ready Wii console. Nintendo is not looking forward to a step-higher or enhanced version of next Wii console. Nintendo surely aims for the next Wii console to be revolutionary and not evolutionary – like slimmer, lighter or with HD. In the price slashing spree, Nintendo too slashed price of Wii in September.

The study did not prove the health profit of playing the game, Motohiko Miyachi, head of a physical activity program at the National Institute of Health and Nutrition in Tokyo, commented that the games might contribute to prevent cardiovascular diseases. It was found in the study that the most effective exercise was the single-arm stand featured in the Wii fit which had an MET score of 5.6 whereas Wii Tennis and Basketball produced 3.0 METs.

Miyachi also claims that the Wii offers a very easy and enjoyable way of exercising and that he even personally enjoys Wii Tennis and Basketball games in particular. It is to be noted that the there is a ever growing physical obesity level in Japan and USA. Let us hope that Wii contributes in correcting those figures as well the waistlines.

It’s taken over three years for the follow-up but February will see the release of Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll, a balance board-enabled version of the popular maze/party game. Head Monkey Ball Toshihiro Nagoshi is here to give us some background on the game, but FIRST: a few game details. The Monkey Ball series has always been about rolling a ball containing a monkey around increasingly complex environments, but now you can control the capsule with your feet. Of course, you can also play with just the Wii remote and nunchuk if you don’t have a balance board. The main game can be played cooperatively with a partner. If you’re playing solo, these obstacles won’t appear. Then there are the ever-popular Monkey Ball mini-games featuring a variety of wacky challenges.

Adult gamers will most likely be the least affected by economic conditions and the drop in video game industry sales. New titles such as the recently released Modern Warfare 2, have proven that gamers aren’t afraid to spend their hard earned money on great quality games – and more influencial titles are already on the way. Expect to see this and Modern Warfare 2 remain big selling points throughout the holiday season.

Even the consoles themselves are ridiculously priced before the holidays. With sharp discounts on games and newly reduces console costs, the video game industry is putting forth a strong effort to remain competitve this holiday season and despite some recent drops in sales, it appears that buyers are still very intent on finding great deals to make their holiday digitally jolly.

Wii Sports Resort climbs 7 places to No3 (+63%), fuelled by the best Wii console sales so far this year, including a 57% increase in the White Wii Sports Resort Pack (launched 6 weeks ago) and a strong debut this week for the Black Wii Sports Resort Pack. The highest new entry is EA’s ‘Dragon Age: Origins’ on 360/PC at No5. Next on the new-release radar is Sony’s ‘Singstar Take That’ debuting at No16 for PS3/PS2 and Sony also debut at No22 with PS3 ‘Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time’.

The biggest release week of the year in terms of individual products and SKU’s sees 41 different games/franchises added to Chart-Track’s database – overall this is almost 80 SKU’s, ranging from single format PC titles to products like ‘Band Hero’ – available as 9 different versions.

The final new-entry is actually a re-entry as Atari launch 4 formats (XB360, Wii, DS and PC) of ‘Ghostbusters: The Videogame’ – now over 7 formats (including the PSP version, new this week from Sony joining the original PS2/PS3 versions which debuted 20 weeks ago, also published by Sony).
